Amends several Saskatchewan registry-related Acts to allow identity verification and digital signatures for public registries and to update related regulation-making powers.
- Lets registrars verify the identity of people searching or filing documents in various public registries
- Identity verification information stays out of the public registry but can be shared with police, RCMP or Canada Revenue Agency for investigations
- Allows registrars to set rules for accepting digital signatures on documents filed in registries
- Applies to corporate, business names, credit union, land surveys, land titles, co-operatives, partnership and personal property registries
- Lets Cabinet make regulations on registry information use, including combining it with other data for new products and services
- Repeals defamation-related sections and schedules in The Libel and Slander Act
- Allows use of French and Indigenous language names for parties registered in the personal property registry
