Bill 26 — The Miscellaneous Statutes Repeal Act, 2025

Assented to on 2025-12-04 · Sponsor: Tim McLeod

Repeals nearly 200 outdated public and private Saskatchewan statutes, most dating from the early 1900s, that are no longer needed.

  • Repeals two public Acts: The Companies Winding Up Act and The Saskatchewan Opportunities Corporation Act
  • Repeals about 198 private Acts incorporating old companies, churches, clubs, colleges and charities
  • Repeals many old city and town bylaw-confirmation Acts for places like Moose Jaw, Saskatoon, Regina and Yorkton
  • Repeals old tax exemption Acts for various religious and charitable organizations
  • Repeals two old Northwest Territories ordinances incorporating a club and a town
  • Most repeals take effect once the Act receives assent, except the repeal of the Companies Winding Up Act, which takes effect later by Cabinet order

✋ What is “challenging”?

One click on “Ask for an explanation” = a citizen request for the bill's sponsor to explain it in plain language, and for us to keep an eye on it together.

An account (email) is required — one request per person, no anonymous requests. Each bill's total is public: it shows which bills people want explained.
