Amends The Public Libraries Act, 1996 to update terminology, modernize notice rules, and set out special provisions for library funding and governance in the City of Lloydminster.

  • Allows public notices to be published in online newspapers and sent by electronic mail, not just print and regular mail
  • Replaces references to the department with the ministry responsible for libraries
  • Adds Lloydminster-specific rules requiring library funding agreements between Saskatchewan, Alberta and the City of Lloydminster
  • States certain municipal library levy provisions do not apply to the City of Lloydminster
  • Requires interpretation of library funding rules to align with Lloydminster Charter and interprovincial agreements
  • Replaces the term Aboriginal with Indigenous throughout the Act, including in Part VIII heading
  • Removes an outdated definition clause and a repealed board duty clause
