Bill 29 — The Tailgating Act

Assented to on 2026-03-12 · Sponsor: Alana Ross

Amends Saskatchewan's alcohol law to let people bring their own beverage alcohol to certain permitted premises and special occasion events under set conditions.

  • Allows regulations to set extra situations where people may bring and consume their own alcohol at permitted premises
  • Permits special occasion permit holders to allow guests to bring their own beverage alcohol under regulated terms
  • Requires permittees and staff to demand age proof if a person appears to be a minor trying to possess or consume alcohol
  • Bans allowing a minor to keep or drink alcohol if they refuse or fail to prove their age
  • Extends existing liability and offence provisions to cover premises with a special occasion permit, not just permitted premises
  • Gives the Lieutenant Governor in Council power to set new rules on bringing alcohol to special occasion permit premises
  • Repeals a subsection of section 19.1 of the Act

✋ What is “challenging”?

One click on “Ask for an explanation” = a citizen request for the bill's sponsor to explain it in plain language, and for us to keep an eye on it together.

An account (email) is required — one request per person, no anonymous requests. Each bill's total is public: it shows which bills people want explained.
