Amends The Saskatchewan Employment Act to update rules on work schedules, wages, leaves, gratuities, discriminatory action complaints and appeals.
- Bans employers from withholding or deducting employee gratuities, except for approved pooling arrangements
- Increases bereavement leave to 5 days per death or pregnancy loss, to be taken within 6 months
- Extends critical illness/injury leave to up to 16 weeks and interpersonal violence leave up to 16 weeks
- Raises the notice period for mass layoffs affecting 25 or more employees, up from 10
- Creates a new referral and appeal process through the director of employment standards and adjudicators for discriminatory action complaints
- Allows loss of pregnancy leave up to 20 weeks before the estimated birth date
- Expands protections against discriminatory action to cover reporting offences, testifying in proceedings, and wage seizures
