Bill 50 — The Financial Administration Amendment Act, 2026

Gives the finance minister new powers to grant financial assistance for economic development and protects officials from lawsuits over good-faith actions under the Act.

  • Allows the minister to guide, coordinate and implement policies to develop and diversify Saskatchewan's economy
  • Permits the minister to give grants or similar financial assistance to people, organizations, businesses or First Nations inside or outside Saskatchewan
  • Restricts such financial assistance to programs and conditions set out in regulations
  • Shields the Crown, the minister and Ministry of Finance employees from lawsuits for good-faith actions under the Act
  • Allows regulations on financial assistance to apply retroactively, but not before the start of the calendar year of payment
  • Takes effect immediately upon receiving assent
