  • Renames 'community correctional' facilities as 'reduced custody' facilities throughout the Act
  • Limits administrative segregation to a maximum of 15 consecutive days
  • Requires written reasons for segregation within 12 hours and access to a lawyer
  • Creates independent review adjudicators, appointed for up to 4 years, to review segregation cases
  • Requires a daily health care assessment for any inmate in segregation
  • Sets new rules and maximum sanctions for minor and major inmate disciplinary offences, including fines up to $200 and disciplinary segregation up to 10 days
  • Allows temporary confinement of an inmate for a prescribed number of hours if needed for facility security or safety
